Raoni Rajão is a senior lecturer in social studies of science and technology at the department of Production Engineering at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil. He has a degree in computer science from the University of Milan-Bicocca, and a master and a PhD in Organization, Work and Technology from Lancaster University. Raoni’s research focuses on the history and practices related to the role of remote sensing technology and geographic information systems in the formulation and enforcement of deforestation control policies in the Brazilian Amazon. Within this empirical focus his theoretical interests include the notions of boundary objects, discourses, institutions, performances and practices.
